Tips, tricks and advice [Nov. 12th, 2009|07:50 am]
[mood | determined]

I need some help on how to interact, play and teach Holland. She is 9 months old today and already watches too much tv. I know this is my fault, but I needed something to distract her while trying to work. Now she is like a man, and if her shows are on you CANNOT get her attention for anything. We are having a no-tv day today and I need to know some games, songs, activities you all did with your little ones when they were Holland's age. She is very active and all over the place, and hates to sit still. Any suggestions are appreciated.

And a couple quick pics of my cute girl...

Treats & skinny jeans... [Oct. 26th, 2009|10:48 am]
[mood |creative]

There are two things in this world that I LOVE - treats and skinny jeans. Trust me, they do not go hand in hand. So to fit into the skinny jeans, I lay off the treats. This is especially hard during the holidays. So, I try to find yummy treats to make without the fat and guilt :) Last night I made the yummiest Faux pumpkin pie. It is more the consistency of a cream pie, but amazing none the less. My whole family loved it. Hope you do too. The only fat is the crust, and I used a lowfat graham cracker crust - so nothing to be guilty about.

Faux Pumpkin Pie

What you will need:

2 small boxes of Pumpkin Spice Pudding
2 cups of Nonfat milk
1 8 oz container of fat free coll whip
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 lowfat graham cracker crust

Mix 2 cups cold milk with the 2 boxes of pudding mix and the cinnamon with a wire whisk. Make sure it is well mixed. Pour 1 1/2 cups of the pudding mixture into the bottom of the pie crust. Mix the remaining pudding mix with 1 1/2 cups of the whipped cream. Layer this mixture on top of the first layer of the pie. Put in the fridge for at least 2 hours - or until ready to eat. Add a thin layer of whipped cream to the top of the pie, and spinkle a tiny bit of cinnamon on top for looks. Serve and enjoy.....so yummy!!

To the Moms [Oct. 19th, 2009|01:08 pm]
Are you guys getting your little one the H1N1 vaccine? My doctor reccommends it, but I am still unsure if I want to pump more meds into Holland (she has already received the normal flu vac). WHat are your thoughts on this? There is a free clinic for Davis County tomorrow...so any thoughts would be appreciated today.

Sick Baby Girl [Aug. 21st, 2009|01:43 pm]
[mood | determined]

Holland girl has been sick this week, so we have been spending a lot of time laying in my bed watching movies. Yesterday I decided to snap a few pictures of my gorgeous girl. She is just so yummy, I couldn't resist. (Sorry about the upside down ones - its how I took them on my phone, and I don't know how to edit)

6 month stats... [Aug. 20th, 2009|01:53 pm]

I just realized that I forgot to post Holland girl's 6 month stats. She turned 6 months on 8/12/2009. I know I will want these on record some day...

Weight - 14lbs 6oz - 20th Percentile
Height - 26" - 70th Percentile
Head - 16 3/4" - 45th Percentile

She has stayed about the same percentages since birth, tall and skinny - just like "Rafi" :)

Some things about Holland at 6 months -

1. She can get into a sitting position on her own, and loves to sit in the front room playing with her toys.

2. She loves seeing herself in the mirror.

3. She LOVES food. Especially Mangoes (real, not jar), pickles, soft serve, cheerios and orange rolls (according to Megan).

4. She is the happiest baby in the world right when she wakes up and greets us with a smile every time.

5. She loves to sleep. Takes 2-3 naps a day, and sleeps at least 12 hours at night.

6. She leaves her hairbows on her head - thank goodness for this one. I think she will love being a girl.

7. She loves to talk and babble all day.

8. She seems to prefer men to women. Her two favorites besides Daddy are Uncle Spencer and Uncle Jimmy.

9. She loves sitting and playing in the grass and would do this all day if we let her.

10. Her favorite movies are "Tinkerbell" and "Toy Story 2" and she laughs and smiles when either "Clank & Bauble" or "Buzz" come on screen.

11. She is still quite the snuggler and I LOVE it.

12. She is so close to crawling...I am sure it will make the list for her 7th month!

We love our Holland girl more than words can explain, and are so ecstatic she chose to be a part of our family. We would not trade being her parents for the world.

Everyone goes through ups and downs in life. I am going through a deep down right now. Hopefully that means my up is right around the corner....trying to stay optimistic. Anyway, don't really want to elaborate, just wanted to vent.

California Trip 2009 [Jul. 22nd, 2009|12:19 pm]
[mood | blank]

Well, I finally got the pictures back from my trip tp Cali. They were all on our friends camera, so I was waiting for her to bring me a disk. So, here goes... (FYI - This is going to be a long one, so if someone knows how to cut and wants to let me know I will edit the post)

We started the trip on Friday morning, July 3rd at 830am. Which meant we had to leave for the airport at 630am...we were tired. When we got on the plane we ordered up some drinks to start the trip off right and had quite an enjoyable flight...as you can see :)

When we landed we got our rental car, with only a few bumps in the road and headed to the LA Fashion District for some knock-off shopping. We dropped a few bucks down there and headed out to our hotel. We stayed at The Hotel Menage, which is by far the coolest hotel I have ever stayed in. The rooms were updated and modern, the pool was open 24 hours, and the pool bar was open until 2am. We definitely took advantage of that each night.

The view from our room (well besides being able to see The Matterhorn at Dland):

When we finally got into our room, the boys needed to let off some steam after all the shopping. So we made a few cocktails and the boys started doing flip/spins onto the bed. We caught a pretty good one from D on film :)

That night we headed out to a nighclub in Anaheim. I forgot what it was called, but it was a lot of fun. One half of the club played techno, and the other half played hip hop. So it was fun to go back and forth. Of course we had to do a little pre-partying...
Jon Drinking...D Dancing

Outside the club, right before the bouncer pulled us out of line to go in...yay for being a girl

In the club...Chels and Reanna

We got home from the club around 1am, and decided it would be a good idea to hit up the pool. Again, we made a few drinks (I am seeing a trend:)) and went to town.
D and the girls

D and I - Yes I look drunk, but really the steam was drying out my contacts

Jon Jon and Reanna

The next day was the 4th of July, so we decided to go to the beach - Laguna Beach to be exact. We went to the yummiest breakfast at a place called The Beachhouse. I had Lobster Huevos Ranchero...OMG Yummy!! After breakfast we walked along the beach for a bit, did some shopping, stopped at a rooftop bar and then around 530 decided to head back to the room for some swimming, drinking and dinner.

Our view from breakfast

The rooftop bar

We played some scratchers...

Recreated the Beatles (according to Jon Jon)

Got a little WT with the beer in a brown bag

The next day was my favorite of them all. We went to Disneyland and California Adventure!!! We had the best time. Although, we were all a little hungover from the night before.

DeeZee and Jon Jon in line for their fav ride - Buzz Lightyear

It was Jon and Reanna's anniversary...hence the mickey ears...

On our way to the Tower of Terror...

Toy Story ride in 3D....another favorite of the boys

This pic was taken right after Reanna and I were attacked by a cockroach in front of Cinderella's castle...freaky!! We were telling the boys the story since they were not with us. D said, "Duh, the cockroachs obviously want to be at the happiest place on earth too!"

We ended our night with way too many churros and a ride through the haunted mansion. We went home that night and crashed...we were beat. We spent the next day walking around Long Beach before our flight home. We all agreed this was the best trip ever and we need to go again soon.

The End.

The Bad News Bears... [Jul. 16th, 2009|10:54 am]
[mood | tired]

I had my first softball game for a league I am playing in for my friends business' team. We had so much fun, even though we lost the game 16-12. But hey, the other team was SO good. They actually play tourneys together. Also, it is a co-ed team, and you have to play even numbers of girls and guys every inning. No girl on our team has ever played softball, and every girl on their team had. So we did pretty well considering. I got on base every time, and ended up getting 5 runs (1 was for someone else's hit - I was the base runner). Anyway, it was a blast and I am so looking forwards to Wednesdays now this Summer.

Lissa Lou and I were in charge of making the team jerseys. I did not get a picture of the group, but we all had our nicknames from our group of friends on our shirts. Here is a picture of my shirt:

The other names we had were DeeZee (Darren), Natty Lite, Rothi, Oscar, Leonard, Tank, Toppy, Dangle, Ringer, Bouchee, Francisco, I Dunno, DanO, Slim and BoYo...fun stuff. Lou and I spent 7 hours making the shirts...they do not look that intricate but they were a pain in the ass. Lou and Jason's daughter wanted in on the fun, so we made her a tanktop with her nickname "Bri Bri" on it, and we made Holland girl a onesie with her nickname "Dutch". I guess you could call them the team mascosts :)

D (Team Mom) and "Dutch"

We met at Darren's apartment. I was in town visiting from CA and went there with some friends.

2.) Who introduced you?

4.) Do you remember what he/she was wearing?
No

5.) Where was the first place you kissed this person?

Jason's 30th in Park City [Jun. 30th, 2009|10:52 am]
[mood | anxious]

Our friend Jason turned 30 on 6/13/2009 and threw a party in PC at Harry o's. We drove the short bus up with everyone, which was one of the best parts of the party. We got a huge suite at The Marriott on Main Street, ate dinner at the always amazing Bistro 412 and danced the night away at Hary O's. It was a fun and crazy night to say the least as you can tell from the pictures below...

This weekend... [Jun. 29th, 2009|11:15 am]
[mood | tired]

This weekend was a quiet one, until Sunday where we had a packed day. Friday night we had a quiet night at home with the Baben. We made some yummy spinach and sun dried tomato pasta and watched a couple movies. Saturday we met my sister at Lagoon for a few hours in the morning, but Holland girl was acting up because of her teething, so we went home and put her to bed. Oragel and Tylenol have been doing the trick lately...but then she is out like a light. So Saturday night we just stayed home and played cards. Sunday morning we went to breakfast at Mimi's Cafe as usual - they have this new AMAZING omellet - egg whites, jalapenos, mushrooms, tomatoes, onion, cilantro and covered in chipotle sauce served with dry wheat toast and sliced tomatoes...so healthy and delicious. After breakfast we ran a couple errands, then went down to the Art Festival with a couple friends. I have never been before, but was told it was a lot smaller this year than previous years - I guess the economy is hurting the art world too :( After the Art Festival we headed home, packed up our car with camping chairs and hit the drive-in to see "The Hangover". Holland was perfect for that, this girl loves watching tv. She fell asleep about halfway through, so we laid her down in the back of the Lexus on a makeshift bed. It was a long day, but so much fun. I am glad we made it to the festival, because it was something new I have never tried. Now, I am just home working counting down the days until we leave for California.....we leave Friday morning, and I couldn't be more excited. I will miss HOlland girl like crazy, but it will be a much needed break. Woot woot. Disneyland here I come :)

Swinging in the park... [Jun. 24th, 2009|08:10 am]
[mood | content]

Yesterday after work I took Holland girl to the park and on the swings for the first time. She really seemed to have fun. (Sorry for the picture overload, but I am obsessed with this little girl)

After the swings we layed on the grass for a bit...

Then we went home and saw Daddy...(who just got done tanning, if you couldn't tell :))

And what better way to end the night, then with a little Toy Story 2?

And just one more picture from swimming last Friday...I can't resist...

Fathers Day and other weekend happenings.... [Jun. 22nd, 2009|11:01 am]

Happy Father's Day to the most incredible father I can imagine for my baby girl. Holland is one lucky lucky girl to have you as her Daddy. Her favorite part of the day is when Daddy comes home from work - she just beams from ear to ear. You can always calm her down by taking a stroll around the backyard. She loves your voice and your face...probably because it looks so much like hers :) You are my little twins and I love you both more than you know.

Yesterday we woke up a little early and took D to breakfast at Mimi's Cafe. Yum! Afterwards we went over to Target and got D the electric razor he has been eyeing for some time now. Then we came home and made a couple cocktails and sat in the backyard and just enjoyed the weather and eachother. For dinner we bbq'd and then just sat back and relaxed. It was a great day.

The rest of the weekend, we took this one swimming again...

And babysat these bodos...

Then we took a trip here...

and spent $250 to make sure I could see :)

Then we went here...

to pick up a few things :)

Ad to top it off, we ate here...

All in all a great weekend. Thanks D and Holland for being my life :)

4 years and 4 months... [Jun. 12th, 2009|08:44 am]
[mood | happy]

Yesterday marked mine and Darren's 4th wedding anniversary. Time definitely flies by. And today is Holland girl's 4 month birthday...again time is flying.

Holland girl is growing up but not out. Her are her 4 month stats:

Height - 25 inches - 75th Percentile
Weight - 12 lbs. - 20th Percentile

She definitely takes after her Mommy in the height department and Daddy in the weight...let's hope it stays that way :) What a lucky girl she will be. She has started rolling over from her back to her tummy - but not the other way around just yet. She copies us - as evidenced below. She loves watching cartoons like Baby Einstein, Kung Fu Panda....well I won't lie she just loves tv in general. She hates her carseat, but loves her stroller. She LOVES nothing more than being outside. She goes to sleep the best for Mommy at night (which frustrates Daddy), and loves snuggling in the morning. When you walk into her room in the morning, she is never crying, just laying there grinning waiting for someone to get her - and a big smile hits her face when she hears our voices. She loves it when you hold her in a standing position and just let her stay that way - I think it makes her feel like a big girl. She loves when you sing to her and will smile through any song. She is amazing and I love her more and more every day.

For our Anniversary, We decided to forgo doing anything alone and just stayed home, ordered dinner in and played with Holland. D and Holland invented a new game. He would blow raspberries at her, and she would copy it and do it back. We spent a good couple hours doing this, and have never laughed so hard or smiled so much. My little family makes me so happy. Darren is the most amazing husband and father and I would not trade him for the world. I am the luckiest girl that I have been able to spend the last 6 years with him, and 4 married to him. And Holland is one lucky little girl to have him as her father.

Weekend Recap... [Jun. 8th, 2009|09:57 am]
[mood |busy]

We had a quiet weekend at home for the most part, since D is getting over the flu. I did have something crazy happen to me Friday night though. D was home with Holland, and I was over at Lissa and Jason's (because we had just gone to a neighbor's daughters birthday party done the street). Anyway, I was jumping on the trampoline with their son Christian, when he bumped me and I flew through their safety net and hit my head on some concrete. I received a nice little concussion. I was feeling dizzy and out of it all day Saturday and only started feeling better yesterday.

We did spend a few hours with my sister's family at Lagoon Saturday, but that short while was about all we could handle with me being dizzy and D still being sick. So Saturday night we rented movies, made foil dinners and stayed in. Sunday we pretty much did the same thing. We did discover yesterday that Holland absolutely loves the movie Kung Fu Panda...which is great because most kid shows irritate me. Kung Fu Panda is pretty funny, even for adults.

And just because I can't get enough of her....some pics from the weekend.

This one is upside down, because she was sitting that way on the couch, with me one side and d on the other just being silly...

Bathtime and naps... [Jun. 4th, 2009|01:32 pm]
[mood | happy]

I guess I got really lucky with Holland girl, in that two of her favorite times of the day are bathtime and nap time. She always has so much fun in the tub, splashing and giggling, and she does not even mind getting water poured over her head to wash her hair. Then when it is time for naps or bed, she goes right down and can usually stay asleep for a good while. That helps with me trying to work during the day. She is such an amazing baby, that me and D have discussed if we even want another one, or if we are happy and content as we are. I guess only time will tell on that one.

Talk about not matcing colors :)
